GREENAGERS 2025, the project promoted by the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies as part of its Third Mission Area, with the involvement of the Public Engagement and Institutional Communication Unit and in collaboration with the T.ER.R.EA. Association, concluded on Saturday, May 31.The initiative, which began in April, involved more than 120 students from the lower secondary schools of Casciana Terme and Lari, with the aim of bringing younger generations closer to key topics such as environmental sustainability, climate change, and recycling, thus promoting active and informed citizenship.Educational Paths for SustainabilityThe first day of the project offered students lessons and hands-on workshops focused on climate change and recycling. Researchers from the Sustainability and Climate Center at the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies explained key scientific concepts in a clear and accessible way, while volunteers from the T.ER.R.EA. Association guided students in creating original objects made from scrap materials, encouraging awareness and sensitivity towards reuse and waste reduction. On the second day, students participated in a “plogging” activity, walking and cleaning the areas of Casciana Terme and Lari. Afterwards, they were invited to produce creative works—drawings, videos, and handmade items—on the themes addressed, each accompanied by a green idea, a sustainable gesture to apply in daily life.Final Celebration at Sant’Anna: A Tribute to Creativity and CommitmentOn Saturday, May 31, the Aula Magna of the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies hosted the final event of GREENAGERS 2025, transforming into a lively space for sharing, connection, and recognition of the results achieved. Students, teachers, families, volunteers, and researchers came together to celebrate the conclusion of an educational journey that blended scientific knowledge, sustainable practices, and the creativity of the younger generations. The event featured an exhibition of many student works: drawings, videos, handmade items, and green proposals—all concrete expressions of their environmental awareness and commitment. Each piece was accompanied by a “green idea” representing a small but meaningful step towards a more sustainable daily life. The highlight of the day was the Award Ceremony, during which the most outstanding projects were recognized for their originality, clarity of environmental message, and creative quality. The young winners had the opportunity to present their projects to an engaged and supportive audience, receiving enthusiastic applause and certificates of merit—a symbol of the value of their ideas and efforts. The high level of participation and the sense of community demonstrated that GREENAGERS is much more than just a school project: it is a formative and human experience that has ignited a spark of passion for sustainability, fostering a strong sense of collective responsibility. The event concluded with the hope that this initiative will continue in the coming years, involving more and more young people in a journey of growth, awareness, and concrete action in support of our planet. At this link, you can view the works of all the participants in GreenAgers 2025
