He has performed more than 4,000 coronary stent procedures, many in heart attack patients. Physician peers have named him one of America’s “Best Doctors” and his patient satisfaction scores placed in the 90th percentile nationally multiple years.As an educator he has received numerous teaching and mentoring awards. He served as the Associate Dean of Admissions of the Ohio State University College of Medicine from 2009 to 2019 and directed all efforts to recruit, interview, and select over 2,000 future physicians. The OSU College of Medicine’s graduating class of 2019 named him the “Professor of the Year,” and he has received the American Heart Association’s national Laennec Clinician-Educator Award and many other awards for outstanding teaching and mentoring.His research centers on the impact of racial bias in healthcare and diversifying the physician workforce as a strategy to reduce racial healthcare disparities. He has been an invited speaker at more than 70 academic medical centers in the US, the UK and Canada.
