The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) has secured over HK$234 million in funding from the General Research Fund (GRF) and Early Career Scheme (ECS) 2025/26, administered by the Research Grants Council (RGC). A total of 268 CUHK research projects have been approved, including 37 under the ECS. The University’s commitment to making significant contributions to research and academic development and nurturing young talent is flourishing.
In the Early Career Award (ECA) 2025/26, four out of eight awardees are from CUHK. This highlights the University’s dedication to supporting young scholars’ development. For the Humanities and Social Sciences Prestigious Fellowship Scheme (HSSPFS) 2025/26, two of the 10 successful projects are from CUHK, both receiving the highest funding amounts of close to HK$1 million each, accounting for nearly one-third of the total funding allocation, which is a remarkable result.
CUHK’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research) Professor Sham Mai-har congratulated the University’s research community for once again receiving recognition from these important research funding schemes. She said: “The RGC funding is committed to supporting excellent and impactful research in Hong Kong, and fostering continuous growth of the Hong Kong research ecosystem. These outstanding results showcase the competence of CUHK in research and innovation. Fueled by these resources, we aspire to greatness and strive  for notable contributions to society and technological development.”
