            John R. Hyngstrom, MD, is an Associate Professor and member of the Rush Department of Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology. His practice in general surgical oncology focuses on melanoma, other cutaneous malignancies and soft tissue sarcoma.His research interests include immunotherapy clinical trial development and survivorship issues in cancer patients. He currently serves as the Co-Director of the Musculoskeletal/Sarcoma Clinical Program and the Research Director of the Skin Cancer Program at RUSH MD Anderson Cancer Center.  He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and completed his general surgery residency at the University of Chicago Medical Center. During his residency, he completed a two-year clinical research fellowship in surgical oncology and tumor immunology at the Surgery Branch of the NCI/NIH in Bethesda, Maryland. After finishing his general surgery training, Dr. Hyngstrom completed a complex general surgical oncology fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
