3 March 2021 QS ranks l’X in the Top 40 worlwide for the study of 4 subjectsÉcole polytechnique has once again improved its worldwide ranking in Mathematics and takes the lead among French Education and Research Institutions in two topics and ranks in second position in five others. École polytechnique has been named as one of the world’s top universities for the study of 11 subjects according to the 2021 edition of the QS World University Rankings by subjects covering 51 academic disciplines, released on March 3rd. The School ranked among the Top 40 worldwide in four subjects : Mathematics, Natural sciences, Engineering – Mechanical, Aeronautical Manufacturing, and Physics and astronomy. It qualifies in the Top 75 worlwide in three more disciplines : Engineering Technology, Computer Sciences Information Systems, Economics Econometrics. In Mathematics, the School moved to the 24 th position worlwide from the 27th in 2020 and the 29th in 2019 and boasted its best performance on the academic reputation criterion in this field. In Physics and Astronomy it earned once again its highest score in this discipline on two indicators : citations per paper and H-Index. The School’s best performance in terms of Employer reputation came in Computer Science Information Systems. L’X takes the lead among French Higher Education and Research Institutions in two disciplines (Engineering – Mechanical, Aeronautical Manufacturing ; Engineering Technology) and ranks second in five more (Mathematics, Natural sciences, Physics Astronomy, Computer Science Information Systems, Economics Econometrics). The QS World University Rankings by Subject ranks the world’s top universities in individual subject areas, covering 51 subjects. Each of the subject rankings is compiled using four sources. The first two are QS’s global surveys of academics and employers, which are used to assess institutions’ international reputation in each subject. The two other indicators assess research impact, based on research citations per paper and h-index in the relevant subject. These four components are combined to produce the results for each of the subject rankings, with weightings adapted for each discipline. These four components are : Academic reputation mesasured on the basis of a poll of 100,000 academics worldwide, Employer reputation evaluated from 50,000 survey responses from graduate employers worldwide, Research citations per paper and the H-index, measuring both the productivity and impact of the published work of a scientist or scholar and based on the set of the academic’s most cited papers and the number of citations that they have received in other publications. In the 2021 edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subjet has evaluated 388 programs from 71 institutions. Overall, QS Quacquarelli Symonds, provide independent comparative analysis on the performance of 13,883 individual university programs, taken by students at 1,453 universities which can be found in 85 locations across the world.   Study   Teach Research   Grow your start-up   Team up
