CalSTRS buys 90 percent stake in Bank of America Tower

​HOUSTON – The California State Teachers Retirement System has purchased a 90 percent stake in the 35-story Bank of America Tower for $542 million, a local record of $695 per sf.
The seller, New York-based Skanska USA Commercial Development, will retain the remaining 10 percent.In July, Bank of America moved more than 600 local employees into the 775,000-sf building at 811 Rusk St. It occupies 205,000 sf across six floors.
​Other tenants include Skanska, Waste Management Inc., Quantum Energy Partners, and international law firm Winston Strawn.
