General Thierry Burkhard, Chief of Staff of the French Armed Forces, presided over the traditional ceremony of handing over the École polytechnique flag to the new class of polytechnique engineering students. This moment of transmission is part of the military dimension of the Ecole polytechnique, which is under the supervision of the Ministry of the Armed Forces.
