Alain Aspect, a former student of the ENS-Cachan (now ENS-Paris-Saclay), professor at the Institut d optique-université Paris-Saclay, professor at École polytechnique, and emeritus research director at the CNRS, was elected to the French Academy on June 26, 2025. He thus becomes the second French Nobel Prize winner in physics to be elected to the French Academy after Louis de Broglie, who won the Nobel Prize in 1929 and was elected in 1944.
