Chung Chi College (CCC) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) announced today (31 October) that its Project E Twin-Building has received two major donation pledges: HK$100 million from Dr Elizabeth K S Law and HK$50 million from the Council for World Mission/Nethersole Fund. The project will introduce high-quality, modern learning and accommodation facilities to CCC, contributing to Hong Kong’s development as an international education hub.
At the 74th Anniversary Founders’ Day Thanksgiving Service cum Project E Donation Ceremony, Dr Norman Chan Tak-lam, Chair of the CCC Board of Trustees, said: “We are profoundly grateful for the generous donations totalling HK$150 million from Dr Elizabeth K S Law and the Council for World Mission/Nethersole Fund. This not only demonstrates the donors’ support for higher education in Hong Kong but also affirms CCC’s commitment to the philosophy of whole-person education. Project E also aligns with the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China’s ‘Hong Kong: Your World-class Campus’ strategic initiative.”
Dr Elizabeth K S Law said: “This donation is not just support for campus development. We hope it will help CCC nurture a young generation with both capability and a sense of responsibility, allowing knowledge and compassion to drive society forward.”
The Reverend Dr Eric So Shing-yit, Chairman of the Council for World Mission/Nethersole Fund, said: “The concept of Project E closely aligns with the Fund’s mission of nurturing talents. We hope that students will be able to fully use the new resources to explore the unknown, with a positive impact on Hong Kong and the nation.”
The Project E Twin-Building, located adjacent to Exit A of University MTR Station, comprises two new multifunctional buildings. The high block includes a student hostel with 300 spaces and a Digital Creative C the low block includes staff quarters with 24 units and an Alumni Activity Centre. The total project cost amounts to HK$550 million. The project aims to provide students with a high-quality learning and living environment, create a rich platform for interaction and exchange for teachers and alumni, and support innovation and development. The two buildings are expected to be completed and begin operating progressively during 2026/27, becoming iconic landmarks of CCC and CUHK.
CUHK and CCC are very grateful for the community’s continued support. The donation ceremony was held during the Anniversary Thanksgiving Service, presided over by Dr Norman Chan Tak-lam and Professor Kwan Mei-po, College Head. Over a thousand staff, students, alumni and guests witnessed this solemn, moving occasion.
