“Liberal Education and Civic Thought: A Conversation with Bryan Garsten” (co-sponsored by the Program in Political Philosophy and the Forum for the History of Political Thought, University Center for Human Values)
Bryan Garsten will address the question how to think about liberal education and civic thought today. His talk occurs against the background of the founding of many new centers devoted to civil dialogue and thoughtful disagreement at US universities. At Yale, Garsten co-founded Citizens Thinkers Writers
, a program for New Haven high school students, in 2016, and the Civic Thought Initiative in 2019. He is a member of the Alliance for Civics in the Academy and of the Civic Collaboratory of Citizens Univ more recently, he has established a new Center for Civic Thought at Yale.
